Snag. Flaking or cracked paint is usually caused by normal shrinkage as a new-build home dries out and settles. While it should still be reported to your developer, it's typically considered a snag rather than a construction defect.
Defect. An active plumbing leak is more than a finishing issue. Left unresolved, it can cause water damage, encourage mould growth and affect surrounding cabinets or flooring. Defects like this should be reported as soon as they're discovered.
Snag. Doors that stick or don't latch correctly are commonly caused by minor installation or adjustment issues. They're a typical snag in new-build homes.
